Q&A

1.) can you keep a secret?

Yes, but I don’t like to. Secrets are dangerous and always find a way free and can destroy lives in an instant.

2.) What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve ever had to overcome?

The shackles of my mother’s expectations of me. She raised me and trained me to live a life had no interest in. Fighting free of that obligation and charting my own course did last damage to our relationship, but it was worth it. I chose myself, chose love and I would do it all again.

3.) did you go to law school because it was expected?

No. I went to law school because I realized if I wanted to make a difference in this world, being advocate was the way to do it. I’m good at it, when the law is applied justly, it can change lives for the better. My mother wanted me to go to business school and take over as CEO of our family business when she retired. I don’t think she’s ever forgiven me for turning that down.

4.) who is your best friend?

Before I met Kal, it was my twin sister Regan. We’re so much more than halves of the same whole - connected in a way that’s hard to describe. We don’t always agree, but we’re never argue. I can’t compare how I feel about her to anyone else and that’s how it’ll always be.

5. ) where’s your favorite place to vacation and why?

Remote places where the stars are clear at night. I hate resorts because I like to sit outside naked in the mornings - so remote cabins and bungalows are ideal.

Kal G.png

Raised by her reckless, self-centered, and misguided mother, Kal has had look out for herself for as long as she can remember.

She’s got big dreams and an even bigger imagination. And the summer after she turned seventeen, she found out she also has a soft spot for boys with wicked smiles and big hearts.

Kal has called New York City home for the last fifteen years.

But, since becoming a single mother, this native Houstonian feels the pull of nostalgia keenly.

But it's not the historic 3rd Ward where she was born that calls her back home.  It's a bookstore in Rivers Wilde and the man whose heart hers belongs to.

Q&A

1.) Which historical figure (dead or alive) would you like to have dinner with?

Amelia Earhart! I want to find out if flying is really what she loved best and know that she was happy in her final moments.

2.) what’s your dream job?

Having a hard hitting investigative journalist television show that hunts down answers to questions not enough people are asking.

3.) What’s the first thing you’d save if your house was on fire (and all the people were safe).

My journal, the pictures from my summer with Remi, as many of my books as I could carry.

4.) What’s your biggest regret?

Not giving Remi a chance to explain himself when we were younger. That changed the course of my life and almost cost me the most important person in it. And all the time I spent hoping my mother would be someone other than who she is.

5. ) What’s the nicest thing anyone has done for you?

Remi spent his last summer before college driving me across town to my book club  just so I wouldn’t miss it. Everything he’s ever done for me is the best I've ever had. That’s how he rolls.
